A large quantity of uniforms were captured by the Germans when they overrun the B.E.F. at Dunkirk. Much of these uniforms found there way to the Kriegsmarine
specially the U-boat crews. Lots of wartime pictures show U-boat crewmen in these "new" uniforms, showing clearly the Brittish field jackets and trousers. The Germans even re-used a lot of the old uniforms of the Dutch army when they overrun Holland in may 1940.
