<HTML>Hello, all you knowledgeable folk:
In Das Boot and Die Festung, Buchheim describes the sound of ASDIC as resembling a handful of gravel being thrown against the hull of the boat. However, in the film of Das Boot, what we hear is a series of isolated "pings," almost musical in tone. Whence this discrepancy?
I'm sure someone out there will know the answer.
Regards,
Meg</HTML>
