Based on the fact, a RAF – plane (meidet – avoided, maybe a typo; meldet reported) reported an attack in grid BF 8350, and except/besides U 116 no other German U-boat was present even close to said position, it has to be concluded, U116 was sunk by this plane. President Truman inspected the boat and then an troal the lights went out for a short moment and his bodygard got real nervous where as Truman did not seemed to be bothered.
