Hi Again Gentlemen, It would seem that UC54 is a likely candidate, but why did Bendert exclude her?? What is really needed is a latitude and longitude where Roberto Ivens was sunk or of the wreck. I can't find one! Joe R

Hello Michael L. Roberto Ivens ex Lordelo trawler built by Cochrane and Sons Selby. Requisitioned by Portuguese Navy 19 Apr'16 and previously owned by Portuense of Fisheries Co. Ltd. (translation). One of two Portuguese naval vessels sunk in WW1. UC69 was off Portugal on the date of the sinking but unknown to me where and when her mines were laid. Respectfully, Joe R

Hi Everyone, HAFNIA and HEKLA are listed as sunk on 30 Sept'16 by U66 in the skipsforlis on the skipet.no site. Uboat.net shows both as sunk on 1 Oct'16 and both sunk by U46. One of them is a typo... but which is correct? Respectfully, Joe R

Hello Marcel and welcome to the WW1 forum, As you know the wreck of U34 has yet to be found. Until it is found, no definitive cause of its demise can be arrived at, and even then it may not be so easy. Does the article give the date and forces involved in the alleged sinking of U34? Can you give us a recap of the article? Would be appreciated. Respectfully, Joe R

220. Re: UA
Hi Freddy, Unfortunately the UA page does not list the number of war patrols or the commanders. "The German submarine UA penetrated the Gulf of Riga through the Irben Strait on 1 August 1915, and operated near Arensburg without finding suitable targets. On 4 August, near Pissen, she unsuccessfully attacked a Russian destroyer, and although counterattacked, she exited the gulf safe

However the third is listed in sunk by month and under successes of the boat that sunk her. Which boat and on which date was the third Aquila sunk? Hints: Lloyds war losses lists two ships named Aquila in the index, the 3rd IS listed under the co

Thank-you for that Ollie. It's clear to me now. Kinda thought it was too easy to be UB112. Another possibility is UB104. She was off Robin Hood's Bay a week earlier sinking Jankoping and Frida on the 13th of AUG. and Wallbend on the 14th. As you know Robin Hood's Bay is about 20 miles South of Runswick Bay. Did UB104 fire any misses? Respectfully, Joe R

Seaham is just north of Runswick Bay and UB112 proceeded north to Blyth and sink Prunelle on the 22nd of Aug.,then made a u-turn and went back south past Runswick Bay to Flambourough Head to sink Heros on the 23rd. The KTB of UB112 should reveal if she fired a torpedo and missed her target. Respectfully, Joe R

Hi Every One and a joyous holiday to all, Which uboat fired the torpedo on the 21st of Aug.'18 that sunk ML403 on the 22nd? Best suspect is UB112 or maybe UB104? Respectfully, Joe R

Hi Guys, A tragic consequence of "shoot first, ask questions later". The British did it again when the Brit sub H1 sunk the Italian sub H5 on 15 Apr'18. Still happens almost 100 years later. Joe R
