Hi, I have a note that Lt.z.S Heinrich Russ was involved in the sinking of the RN sub, HMS Shark. Can anyone confirm this is the case and - more importantly - give the identity of the unit with which he was flying at the time? Long shot, I know.. Cheers

I'm looking for elaborate details on the career of Richard Becker. I've seen the file on him on this website and I have Uboot im Focus #2. If anyone has pictures of U-218 - specifically the three fish emblem - or of Becker personnally, I would very much appreciate hearing from you, either here or via PM. I am looking for dates of service when he was promoted, when he served with 2./7

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew of a uboat that was forced to submerge - possibly was even attacked - on 7 September 1939 in the North Sea (sorry, can't be more accurate than that) by a German Do 18. A long shot, but thanks in advance if anyone can narrow down at least which group of boats were in the square of N. Sea ranging from Hartlepool - Aberdeen Adam

Thanks Ken, I am aware of which emblem belongs to which KüFlStaffeln. I was more interested to know whether the three men applied them to their baots in reference to their time in the Luftwaffe or whether there is no connection at all and it is mere conincidence. Cheers Adam

Hi, According to Luftwaffe records, on 17.09.1940 a u-boat collided with a moored He59 in Boulogne. Does anyone know which boat was involved, or, failing that, which boats were based at Boulogne at this time. Thanks in advance Adam

43. U-29
I am looking for details on U-29's pre-war activities. I have a picture that shows the boat (with the number 29 on the conning tower) towing a Do 18 but with no date. Unfortunately the aircraft's codes are not visible. If anyone has any details on the movements of the boat or indeed if they know when the event may have occurred, I would be greatly appreciative if someone could offer ass

I figured the question was a long shot. So I will widen the net somewhat. Can anyone tell me which boats were at sea on this day and, if possible, their positions?

Hello, According to Chris Shores 'Fledgling Eagles' during the afternoon of 7 September 1939 a Do 18 attacked a submerging German submarine. Does anyone know where the incident took place, which boat was involved and what, if any damage was sustained in the attack. Thanks in advance Adam

Hi, Does anyone know where the areas L and P are off the Atlantic Coast - presumably within range of Brest. Both 5./196 and 1./906 were told to stay out of those areas on 21.9.41 and I presume it was because of inbound U-boats and the possibility of confusion by aircrew. Unfortunately there are no indications of were these areas are. Does anyone know? TIA Adam

I'm looking for any literature (in English) dealing with medical considerations as to the sorts of things seamen/aircrew adrift at sea in either the Atlantic/North Sea or Mediterannean faced and what was known about these conditions 1935 - 1941. A very odd topic, I know, but any help would be appreciated TIA Adam

Hi, Does anyone have access to the KTB for U-30? I'd like to know if it records the names of a Do 18 crew that was forced down in Pl.Qu 3441 on 30.03.1940. The aircraft ahd been sent out on a search and rescue operation but was forced down for technical reasons. All the crew were rescued unhurt by U-30. I do know the aircraft code and unit, but have no information on the crew or when

Many thanks for the information Hubertus. I don't know how much value it will be, but I do have a few names for a handful of airmen who served with Küstenfliegergruppe 906. Does anybody know the identity of the two destroyers and one submarine that were attacked on 7 November 1939? An initial attack on the submarine with bombs occurred at around 10:30 am by an He 115 and the German crew believed they had damaged the boat. It appears the two destroyers escaped but were later found and engaged with aerial torpedoes by He 59s. Any ideas on which vesseles these we

Bruce and Rainer, Many thanks for the information. It has been most helpful. Bruce, with regards to the unit concerned, although the order for redesignation stipulated 13.07.1943 as the day 2./KüFlGr 406 changed to 3./SAGr 130, the Staffel appears slow to have carried out the change and was still recording events under the 2./406 tag; significantly, the five Bv 138 losses from 28.07.1943 a
