On 2 November 1944, HMS Mounsey (Lt. F.A.J. Andrew, RN) was damaged by a Gnat torpedo fired by German U-boat U-295 while escorting convoy RA-61 and had to return to Kola Inlet.
After temporary repairs the ship made passage to UK in convoy RA-62 for permanent repairs.
