Personal information
William John Salter survived the sinking of Beaverdale and was in the lifeboat which landed on the Snaefellness Peninsula, where 26 men were looked after and fed by a farmer’s wife. After a brief stay in hospital at Reykjavik he was shipped back to Greenock, where he wrote a letter to his sister detailing some of his experiences following the sinking.Sources
