Personal information
George Fredrick Arthur Flowers served as Telegraphist Air Gunner (TAG) with 846 Squadron FAA aboard HMS Tracker from April to June 1944. He then joined 852 Squadron FAA aboard HMS Nabob until October 1944. In August 1944 he had taken part in Operation Offspring, the largest aerial mine laying operation carried out by the British Home Fleet in World War Two and was on deck of the carrier when she was struck by the torpedo from U-354, being later transferred to HMS Kempthorne.
