Two brothers from Little Anse, Nova Scotia served aboard Montrolite: James Benedict and Peter Martin Clannon. Their first cousin Joseph E. Clannon of L'Ardoise, Nova Scotia was also aboard and survived the sinking, while both brothers were lost. Reportedly one of them was about to get in a lifeboat until he noticed his brother was missing, went back into the ship and was never seen again.
