Notes on event | At 00.20 hours on 2 Oct 1943 the unescorted Haiching (Master Charles E. Steuart) was torpedoed and sunk by U-168 in the Arabian Sea 80 miles west-southwest of Bombay. Twelve crew members were lost. The master, 55 crew members and two gunners were picked up by the Indian dhow Mahadro Prasad and landed at Bombay. | ||
