History Completed in December 1935 as French Fort Richepanse for Cie de Transports Isothermiques, Le Havre. 1938 sold to Cie Générale Transatlantique, Paris.

On 9 Feb 1941, the Vichy French Fort Richpanse was captured by HMS Registan (F 106) in 30°47N/18°59W and escorted to Gibraltar, arriving on 18 February. She had been en route from the Antilles to Casablanca with a cargo of 834 tons of bananas and 85 passengers. The vessel was transferred to the Ministry of War Transport (MoWT). 
Notes on event

At 20.42 hours on 3 September 1941 the unescorted Fort Richepanse (Master Charles Draper) was torpedoed and sunk by U-567 about 450 miles southwest of Bloody Foreland. The master, 25 crew members, five gunners and five passengers were lost. 15 crew members and seven passengers were picked up by ORP Garland (H 37) (LtCdr K.F. Namiesniowski, ORP) and ORP Piorun (G 65) (Cdr E.J.S. Plawski, ORP) and landed at Greenock.
