Moving Navigation Buoys

Thanks for that info, sounds good. Would like to more about the buoys. What size are they/ Does the U-boat disperse these buoys, or are they local to the waters they're navigating/ How do they disperse them if that's the case/ would they disperse them in enemy waters. Also, the research I've done so far leads me to believe that some U-boats ran aground in the Scottish Hebrides, Islay being one such case. How did they aground though ? I find this info hard to come by. Was it weather, bad maps, tides, shallows ? Once again, any help much appreciated.
