Come to think of it you could not put a valve on the exaust side,, there would be nowhere for the fumes to go, except possibly into the interior of the u-boat, which would not be good! and if you put a flapper valve on the intake side and it closed briefly it would draw air from inside the boat creating a negative air pressure, which would be very painful for the crew! What am I missing? Me109g
