Hi Rainer,

I think the errors in this book are : "U-861, U-874, U-875, and U-883 were modified for cargo and the forward torpedo tubes removed" !

Hum ! U-861 was just coming back from the far east before the end of the war !
I think it's to short time to do this transformations !
But we can see a lack of the deck torpedo plate in starboard just forward the conning tower .This , is visible at Trondheim and arriving at Lysahally !
Maybe to preparing for a snorkel !
U-874, U-875, and U-883 had the last typ of snorkel .
U-874 , and U-875 were waiting the duties for the far east .
I don't think that the torpedo tubes were removed ( the protection against the sea waves along the holes in the waterline each side of the hatch
U-883 was a typ-IXd/42 and commissioning March 45 , maybe this late date justify these tranformations .
