Hello everyone (and in particular the three Ian's - Preece, Logan and McLeod). I am new to this forum but your posts in particular have caught my eye. I know some of the posts are quite old now but hope this gets seen and I hope I am going the right way about contacting everyone. I am keen on family history and was fortunate enough to be close to a great aunt of mine who died recently, having reached a great age. She had a younger brother who died when the Ibis was sunk and I’m sure she told me he had been a Sick Berth Attendant too - he was certainly working as some kind of nurse onboard. I was told that he died giving his lifejacket away to a patient. My great aunt told me tales of the Ibis and her brother's early death many times and also said that the Sloop Ibis had been used as a decoy and was sunk to save lives elsewhere. Having said all this, please bear in mind that I understand little about naval history so it is possible that this might not have been correct. I would love to have a copy of Ian McLeod's Excel list of those onboard if at all possible please. I have a photograph showing my late great uncle and other crew members aboard the Ibis. Do let me know if anybody would like to see it.
