Some corrections needed to Claire Dimpfl's post. Lt Commander H. M. Darrell Brown was the Captain of the Ibis, he drowned. his second in command was The Hon. Lt. Douglas David Edward Vivian, he was one of 102 survivors; he was awarded a DSC and Bar for subsequent naval action when as a Lt. Commander he commanded the Hunt Class Destroyer HMS Brissenden. Lt Commander Vivian did not marry until 1943, it is therefore unlikely that Lt. Commander H. M. Darrel Brown acted as Godfather to any of his 5 children, his widow 'William' Darrell Brown, however, was his daughter's god mother.
