Hello Mr Morgan, Thank you for replying so promptly. Isn't it amazing how error can be passed through, thank you for clearing that up. My Father never spoke of his experiences during the war, my Mum was more likely to relate her memories and this is obviously where the error crept in. My Mother also stated that my father had been Captain Sherbrooks aid/batman/butler whatever it was called, and that after the war he sent my Dad a gift in recognition of his service to him. One thing my Dad did apparently tell my Mum was that Captain Sherbrooke was afraid of no-one and did some very bold things during battle, especially in sorties up fjords to ID German gun placements etc. I believe my Dad was a gunner, Pom Pom gun or something like that. Or Chicago Piano maybe they called it, my brother could probably be more accurate in regard to these details. My Dad also received a scroll from the King of Norway, given to all the men on board presumably, when they brought him from Norway to England. I presume that was also on the Onslow. Sorry I'm rambling here. I don't often speak of this but I find it all compelling and touching to think of my Dad in this part of history. Thank you again, Helen Grier
