Hello helen

Here is a link to the bbc site where a son recalls his father's role on HMS ONSLOW and of the action from which the V.C was awarded.

I am sure that Captain Sherbrooke would have dedicated his award to his ship and all her crew who served in her as most officers do.

The battle ensign that was flown on HMS ONSLOW is hanging in Oxton St Peter & St Paul church notts

Also there was a first day cover (british stamp) of the 40th anniversary of the sinking of u589 by HMS ONSLOW (my father collects stamps)
