This is one for Michael & Yves I think (as usual!).
What information do you have about the sinking of the 2679GRT Portuguese steamer 'San Nicolau'? According to the UK hydrographic office it was sunk 17/11/1916 by German submarine 15 miles southwest of the Casquets reef whilst en route from Lisbon to Le Havre (NAVAL STAFF MONOGRAPHS VOL.17). Charted position 49-33N 2-40W. From extensive discussions with the fishermen who work that area I have come to the conclusion that it's not there. Perhaps someone has the KTB or other info that will shed more light on the circumstances of the sinking? Many thanks in advance,Mark.
