Hi Daniel,

Firstly, I"m dutch so no real expert on how to retrieve information about German history but in Holland pretty much every town/village has its own historical society. However, after a quick wiki-search on Königsberg, I found this photo of Königsberg city center in 1949 (http://www.kng750.kanet.ru/list000.htm) which leaves me to wonder whether there were any archives left at all after WW2.

Maybe the university has a history department where you could start? The university has a website but both the official as the English version of their website is in Russian. :(
