Joe,

I'm working on an article for this site on this case. Based upon German and British primary source information, I will argue that:

1. U 85 never entered the Channel, rather she turned to go to the north of Scotland, and in all probability foundered in heavy weather.

2. The U-boat Privet engaged was UC 68. Whether the U-boat was sunk is, however, uncertain.

I will take care of the various items on this web site when the article is up.
