<HTML>Thanks Torlef. I guess I was just shocked at the condition of the boat. The plans on the museum Web site are to enclose the boat in a structure that will protect it from the elements. But plans and money to do it are two differant things I guess . I e-mailed the person in charge of this and got a responce that she will be back on Jan 2, 2002. I live only 30 minutes from the U-505 and offered my help in anyway with preserving the boat.
I feel lucky I have the chance to walk through a U-boat right in my own backyard. Did you know that same museum has only 1 of 2 German Stukas left in the world? How the heck did they end up in the Americas Midwest?
But anyhow , I intend to stay on top of this.</HTML>
