There are different circumstances. My father was rewarded with medal "For the defense of Stalingrad" only 30 years after the end of WW2 although he takes part in this battle from the first to the last day.

I interests how was produced rewarding by Iron Crosses in the course of several months after the end of WW2 in Europe. Answer to this question must not depend on the nationality of man which assigns it . Let us assume that question posed person living in Sweden or Switzerland.
