<HTML>Hitler may well have been grooming Heydrich (who he called \"the man with the iron nerves\") to be his successor, as he supposedly related to Dr. Wilhelm Scheidt, his historical officer.
Himmler was jealous of Heydrich\'s position of favor with Hitler, and may have assisted with the assassination. The word \"Holesovice\" was sent by radio to the Czech underground (on the London frequency---yet London denied ever sending such a message), and when commando Jan Kubis went to the Prague suburb out of curiosity, an SS driver happened to pull very slowly around the hairpin turn that was to become the site of the attack on Heydrich. So where did this radio message originate? No one knows.
Heydrich himsef knew he was the most hated man in Czechoslovakia. He never made the morning trip from his home to his headquarters at the same time. Some mornings he was very early and some very late. This, along with very high speeds obtained by his vehicle and a well-armed bodyguard, seemed sufficient to Heydrich to foil any attempt on his life. He was wrong.
The low speed necessary to make the sharp turn was his Achilles heel. Not so different from President Kennedy\'s assassination. His Lincoln had to slow to make a sharp turn from Houston onto Elm Street, where he was fatally shot....

So I\'d have to say my previous statement of \"reckless disregard\" for his own safety was over-stated. Although Heydrich often made the trip with the top down on his car, it\'s not like he made the trip in a slow, leisurely, sight-seeing mode....
