No, not a good book in that it is full of contradictions, unprovable facts, and author\'s assumptions. On the other hand, it is a man\'s story, and who am I to say he did not tell the truth to the author. Quite inexpensive, I believe the United States Naval Institute is selling it now for $10 or less.
My interest comes from the fact that the DOGGERBANK was involved with the raider MICHEL which later sank my ship and took me prisoner. Also, when the DOGGERBANK was sunk by the U-43 of the 364 Germans lost, many were from the UCKERMARK, to which I was transferred from the MICHEL and which took me to Java where I became a Japanese prisoner.
If true, it is an intriguing tale. From my standpoint, there are too many errors that I can substantiate and other errors of omission that I can only question.
As for a U-boat attack on Aruba? A quick flip through the pages come up with nothing. And I cannot imagine what connection it has with Bootsmann Fritz Kuert\'s tale.
