Re: U 31, U 32 new uboats of German Navy

Hallo Hans and All,
sorry for bundling, but that’s why we have such fine experts like you and RB to explain to the “dummies†like me, although if famous means having a widespread reputation (Webster), one might argue or construe……, just kidding.
Anyway, please find the „inauguration“ speech for U 31, 32 by Peter Struck, outgoing secretary of defence.

The usual speech by high brass on such occasions so I don’t need to translate. What is interesting is that he said at the beginning that two more boats would be commissioned and, if I can count at least correctly, they would be U 33, 34. On the other hand, if you click back on this link you’ll find a general statement on the defence budget and its future stating in general that “investment†in weaponry will be increased in the coming years, so there might be some hope also for u 35 the 3rd, so to speak of.
