<HTML>yepp - a knowledge of the lingo WOULD be one of the advantages!
Actually, 2 of those older sources I mentioned are based on information found in German Archives, British Archives, including Lloyd\'s, Norwegian Archives (including those of the shipping firms that owned the ships), and American archives, as well as a number of other misc. sources - but the fact remains, new information has come out since they were published on quite a few of the items mentioned in them. Two of the books are based on personal stories told by participants in the events, but written down by a third party so mistakes could still have occurred. I still have some newer books (published in the 90\'s) that I haven\'t been able to check yet - will do so now that I\'m \"done\" with the listings themselves (will I ever be done? don\'t think so). They\'re huge though, and there\'s 5 of them, so will take me a while to get through.
(Mine was never really meant to be a scientific project, but I do want the results as accurate as possible, and hopefully someone might be helped by the info I\'ve entered and will continue to enter).
