Hi,VEK !
Perhaps you are not experienced...but I've learnt a lot reading your post !
I'll try some comparison with French author Louis-Ferdinand Céline, I'm quite sure that most of you have heard this name, for me, and for a lot of french people, he is one of the greatest french authors, if not the greatest , of last century.I'm not sure that translations available in English or in German are satisfactory, for his writing was a bit special.Céline's two first novels were extraordinary events in french litterature...Afterwards, he wrote antisemitic books, with the same litterary skills, extraordinary vocabulary,etc...To add to the confusion, he had been a hero of WW1, getting "Croix de Guerre" and"Médaille Militaire" in 1914, at the age of 20.When he was sent to french military courts in 1947, after exile in Denmark, for collaboration with Germany between 1940/1944,his answer was he learnt talking German with his rifle in his hand.
Just to finish, I think that Jesus told to one of his apostles: "Let dead people bury dead people".And I fully agree with all previous statements, without LGB, our knowledge about WW2 submarine warfare won't be the same.
Enjoy your day.
