Good afternoon Peter,
Just to give an idea of how often this topic comes up... use the Search function on this site and type in something like "U-boats Ireland" and you'll get the picture. I accept that on the face of it it seems logical that with Ireland's history, we would be sympathetic to anyone's cause as long as that cause was against perfidious Albion, this however was not the case. Thousands of Irishmen faught on the side of the Allies, with large numbers paying the ultimate price, many at the hands of German submarines. Only ONE man born in Ireland faught on the German side and he was the son of German parents who happened to be working here at the time of his birth. He returned to Germany when he was 12 years old.
Good luck with your Deadlight project.
