Don,
Just a few reminders for your Dad. "British Promise " was on her maiden voyage, the Master's name was E.J.Goodchild, she reached Halifax on the 22 Nov, had 54 crew and 7 gunners fortunately with no casualties, repaired,she returned to service in May the following year, and was eventually scrapped at Rosyth 1959.
