Movies and Films
This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.
Enemy at the Gates looks crap.

<HTML>From what I\'ve seen this movie will be no different to Saving Private Ryan which was fictional aggrandising of history. Jude Law vs Ed Harris in a sniper duel? Oh please. Apparently neither of them can conjure up the accents that go with their supposed nationalities. And pretty boy Jude Law is meant to be some coarse russian farm boy? Give it a break.
I really think Hollywood movie makers should give the war theme a rest until they read some war history before jumping up and saying \"wouldn\'t it be great to have a pitched battle in a burnt out town with a small US platoon vs 3 panzers and a German infantry division.\"
By the way Mr Spielberg Private Ryan never actually needed to be found. He walked into an American base and didn\'t even realise he was needed. Oh well....
If you really wanted to depict that story well and creatively you might have to think. Much easier to make a movie about good ole worn out US stereotypes blow each other to bits. Also making something gorier does not eqal more realistic.
Cheers for listening to my little rant.
