<HTML>I recently saw this movie and thought it was okay. It does not discuss the grand strategy of the battle of each side. You just learn or observe a personal battle between two people with sniper rifles. I have two books on the Battle of Stalingrad. The first book is \"The Beginning of the Road\" (1959, Moscow, 1st published) which is written by Marshal Vasili Ivanovich Chuikov. He command the Russian 62nd Army at Stalingrad. In his book, Chuikov does state that there was a Major Konings who came to Stalingrad to kill the top Russian sniper. This information was learned from a captured prisoner. Furthermore, Chuikov describes the duel and events between Russian snipers and this mysterious Konings on pages 143 to 145. However, Antony Beevor in his recent work, Stalingrad, The Fathful Siege: 1942-1943 discusses the Russian sniper cult and its effects on German morale and Russian morale but states that this duel between this \"chief of this sniper school\",( Major Konings?), and Russian sniper Zaitsev is very unconvincing because of a lack of evidence. Beevor\'s work was published in 1998 by Penguin Books. Vasily Zaitsev was one of the top Russian snipers at Stalingrad.
