<HTML>I have heard that tankers were hard to sink. Due to their liquid cargo, torpedoes do not do as much damage as they would to a dry cargo ship. Also, the cargo floats. so you have to release a fair amount of the cargo to sink the ship. Fire is a problem, but if you are carrying heavy oil and not Av gas, it can be handled. As an example of tanker stubborness, see the story of the SS Ohio during Operation Pedestal. Torpedoed, bombed numerous times, set afire and had a Stuka crash on it and it still made it to port.
