Fist attack in Das Boot

<HTML>Hi folks,

I want to ask a tactical question. In the first attack in the the movie, when the destroyer is sighted and the Kap is getting the cross hairs on the periscope onto the destroyer, is he trying to make a bow shot. Would that shot be implemented using a torpedo zig-zagging manuever? I cannot think he would do a straight shot because the other ship can always zig zag. Thanks
