This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

<HTML>Meg and Io
congratulations ladies on both of you, you 've managed again to convert a very nice topic to a personal "flame war", as we call it on U-Boat net...
I suggest you mail off site your personal de-bates.
Meg, I never spoke to you, you seem a very nice person and you ARE a crew mate of u-boat net, do not forget that, I know Io from the forums of this site, never met her, never spoke to her off-line.
Io, I met you here 3 years ago, on these forums, only. Rarelly we mailed off-site...
Both of you ladies are members of our crew, we do enjoy your presence here, is there any point of you "torpedoing" eachother?
Do not get me wrong on this, I just want to "calm" things down...
Meg, yes, I agree that JP was the best to play the part of the captain in "Das Boot", his "Narbengesicht" was just like made for the role, I can not imagine Robert Redford playing the role, too American. It was a German production and a German film about German U-Boats, no place for non-Germans.
Io, I know that your knowledge about WLW and LGB is vast, but think about that: Without "Das Boot" (with JP), the movie would probablly be just another "sub-movie"...
Das Boot was (and is) a marker in the movie industry, without it probally this site would never excist, a lot of people saw the "other side" of the U-boats after that movie and started to get interested in that specific topic, I saw it in 1981 and since then I am a U-boat fanatic...
Anyway, you ladies take care and please do not disappear from this site like others before you...
All the best, George Roumbos, Hellas</HTML>
