Movies and Films
This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

<HTML>I was there at the end of the '60s, stationed at Sagamihara and Zama. I rather liked it, though I can't remember much of the language any more.
One might note that the primary "public" function of the modern Japanese military seems to be getting stomped on by Godzilla in movies.
It was interesting to notice that Japanese war movies were being made while I was there, almost all of them on naval topics. The Army didn't fare as well, possibly because people remembered that the war was started by the Army (in China), and expanded mostly at the Army's insistance, and that Yamamoto and the admirals argued against expanding the conflict. (Of course, Yamamoto spoke English and had lived and studied in the U.S., so he presumably had a better understanding of how we would react.)
