151. Re: U124
John, Could find no reference to the injured man - the other info mentioned i.e.,dates and times of resupply from Python are spot on. What was your source that mentioned the injured crewman?

155. Re: U124
John, It might be a good idea to contact Hubertus to get a resolution at hubertuscrews@yahoo.com or: He maintains the "crews" listings. There is always the possibility of error or omissions. I believe he is located in Australia (the Antipodes).

156. Re: U124
John, Also regarding my last post: The doctor mentioned in Ritschel was Dr, BERNBECK, not GODER. Both doctors served on U-124, BERNBECK for 2 patrols and Dr. GODER was listed as U-124. I guess it would take a dated crew list or the original KTB to ascertain which doctor was aboard for the incident.

157. Re: U124
John, Ref: P.107-108 ......The wings were high; it was no Condor. "Alarm!" he yelled. "Dive! Dive!" There was no time to wait and see if it had spotted the U-boat. The men on the bridge jumped through the hatch as the boat started down. A scream of pain from the engine room carried above the ordered confusion of the crash dive and brought Dr. Goder running t

John, U 843 intercept of Neutral Port. steamer 12 March 1944 at DD 2823??. The Cable Engr. name was G.W. Roynon. The U 488 transfer was 19 March 1944 at EH 1489. Also of note: Could not locate the names of the Spanish or Portugese steamers. An original KTB might be the answer.

Kameraden, The three U-Boat commanders who perished seem to be what is currently believed as factual - but in regards to Ludden, there is a discrepency as noted in Blair: A footnote in Ritschel KTB Vol. 5 - P.129 is as follows: 06 July 1944 - Ludden and Chief Engr. Landfermann were captured by Free French Resistance (FFI) on their way to reporting in Limoges - captured with all t

John, Looking at the portside vent patterns - in the photo (from the bow towards the stern) 2 vents - grouping 2 and 4 vents. This would indicate Type IXC or IXC40. To further identify the boat, the remaining group of vent patterns (the long series near the water line) would have to be shown more clearly. Also if the railing (lifeline stanchion assembly) was shown in better detail, this wo

Uwe Rottcher's U 565 additional info: Again regarding the "torpedoed island" on the 15th patrol..... This episode was also described in Helmut Jackusch book U-565: ["Instead submarine torpedoed an island". An enemy ship crosses our way, I.WO Honel begins a hunt. From a good position: "Torpedo los (fired)." Hurrah a hit! Joy is great. We wants
