John, U 105 was inward bound. On 08-02-1943 in CF2567 (U 105) received a message from BDU to take on KPTLT. Ing. Grade from U 183 (outward bound to Carribbean). Transfer between the boats took place on 10-02-1943 in CF2316 at 0116. I have no info if this was a swap-out of LI's from one boat to the other or the reasons for the swap. The original KTB for either boat would probably hav

Also... From reading Ken's input below (excellent summation) - there is an accompanying CD which tabulates the details of all the supply missions of the ten boats mentioned in the book. There are two versions of the book which relate to the cover layout which are in German or English - the innards of each version are identical. Side note: Issue #9 of "U-boot im Focus" wil

John, According to U-103 KTB for 22 May 1942 - San Pablo was sighted at 1410. U 103 dived at 1638 then surfaced at 1810 and at 1857 opened artillery fire. At 1932 U 103 broke off the engagement as hopeless. So apparently, NO

Aussie_59, For the 19-07-1944 entry - U-716 appears to be correct. Ref. Blair; Hitler's U-Boat War Vol. 2, P.597: "Off Hammerfest on July 19, a B-24 of British Squadron 59, piloted by R.C. Penning, attacked the Arctic boat U-716, commanded by Hans Dunkelberg. The eight depth charges seriously damaged U-716 and she aborted to Hammerfest for repairs." Also ref. "Searc

195. Re: U957
John. Forgot to mention that "Chronology Of The War At Sea 1939-1945" by Rohwer (2005 Ed.) has the latest corrected entry. The 1992 Ed. has: 19 October (1944) Norway "The German U 957 is badly damaged in a collision with a (German) transport off the Lofoten Islands and has to be decommissioned."

208. Re: U-489
Adam... There is confirmation of this in the U-489 KTB entry for 28 July 1943: In a message to BDU - titled "BDU: Flyers rescued": Von abgestürzter "BV" in AF 7369* drei Flieger gerettet. Frag: wo absetzen. -BDU: Flieger mitnehmen. Of crashed "BV" in 7369 AF saved three airmen. Question: where to land (them). Ref: Ritschel - Band 9 *Grid locati

John.. Thanks for posting the photos.....thought these references might be of use: U-984 (Sieder) fired a spread of two LUT torpedoes which hit the Henry G. Blasdel and the Edward M. House - a coup de grace which did not hit the damaged ships but instead struck the John A. Treutlen and one GNAT torpedo which hit the James A. Farrell.
