Yes (as far as i know) aircraft could adjust the depth at which charges were set and the spacing distance .
In the main the use of the schnorkel if located gave no problem as regards an attack , set at 225 ft no problem.Quite a number of attaacks made by aircraft against identified snorkeling subs. proved to be against non -sub. contacts.I can send you some interesting details of atacks maaaade in 44/45 period by 423 Sunderlands if you are interetsed in most cases tey give first hand accouns and reviews by squadron and base commander on the attack.
Given the succes of other radr equipted allied aircraft and the development of german radr it is probable that the germans knew that very cm. radar was in use.
