Hi Robert,
My last comment was referring to tanks in ships - not the comparatively narrow ones on subs. Longitudinally the tanks were also kept relatively short and thus increasing number of tanks also offering further flexibility. Example: The typical bulges on the German type VII boats were actually 5 different tanks on each side. Rgds, RB
