Hello Rainer,
You have a good point. Are measurements from the "as designed" specification or the "as built" specification. Mine are coming from the "as built" specification since all measurements were taken from surrendered boats.

Its like the designer's submergence depth was 100m (328') for the Type IXC, but we know that the boats went far deeper than that. This could also work the other way too.

From some of the pictures I have seen of the surrendered boats, some were in pretty poor shape at the end of the war. It took some pretty brave men to sail on these boats in the condition they were in.
