I am getting confused now !
As you say in the photo the ICE, first thing I noticed - would this be Atlantic? I know that he was on escort duty and the air-attack was italian, he used to say that it was relentless (the air attack) , that's when his mate was killed, I remember he told me he was standing very near him (do not know the name I am afraid).
His service number is JX194213 I am waiting for a form from southampton so they can do a search - £30 not too bad!
He used to steer the ship - whatever that was called!, I remember without a doubt that he told me that he was ordered to ram a submarine when it surfaced (as a kid that was exciting!) - after a phone call to my sister she also can confirm this.
Hopefully they can give me a full service record and maybe clear the mystery!
I am very grateful for all your help.
