Hello Ric,

It was quite common to serve on a few ships, experienced sailors being used to serve as the core of a crew of a new ship. They might also be transferred to another ship if their present vessel was damaged for a long period of time (as was HMS WOLVERINE), etc.
So it is possible that the ramming incident and the air attack occurred on two different ships...
