Hi all,
I am a bit late to this thread, but I came across a newspaper account in the NY Times that the ship I am researching (The Anchor Line's TSS California) transported survivors of the City of Lucknow; does anyone know anything more about the California's involvement in this incident?
The brief article just says the California arived in New York on August 22nd 1916 carrying the Chief Officer (John Gibb) and six other officers and engineers, and that their ship was torpedoed without warning. The California was to meet up with the City of Delhi, anchored off New York.
This may be all there is to her involvement, but if there is more to the story, I'd love to hear it. I also thought Jim might be interested in this tidbit, for his research.
Thanks,
-Daniel
