<HTML>Hi!
In 1942 Swedish Navy and Air forses cooperated with Kriegsmarine in the protection of German merchant ships even in the open sea. There was about 15 military engagements in which in 8 cases Soviet submarines were damaged. According to not completely reliable data one Soviet submarine was sanked by Swedish Navy. In 12 July 1942, 12:45 north of Eland, at point 57'52'0 N, 16'55'5 E Swedish destroyer Stockholm detected periscope submarine and dropped depth charges. Here during the week was observed large grease spot, which gave the basis to Swedes to state about the sinking by them submarine in this region. Since Soviet submarine Shch-317 from 10 July did not return to the base, these coordinates may indicate one of the probable places for her death. However only diving inspection of region may explain finally the question.
Soviet submarines sanked six Swedish vessels in 1942 and take in captivity 7 citizens of Sweden.
