<HTML>Dear Walter
Swedes attempted to fall down entire fault to the Soviet Navy. The only real fact about which until now they speak is ill-fated history with the diesel submarine S-363 (U-137). 18 October 1981 she broke the antenna of radio direction finder about the net of fishing vessel. She was brought down from the course and the village to the sand-bar directly in Swedish naval base Karlskruna!
As it was explained subsequently, this incident very frightened Soviet naval authorities. Since 1982 it was forbidden approach the outer boundaries of Swedish territorial waters nearer than to 50 kilometers (in the region of Gotland island - nearer than 14,5 km). Submariners strictly carried out order, without desiring to repeat ill-fated S-363 and her crew...
During September 1992 near Oskelesund city the Coast Guard noted sequential "submarine". Near exactly were conducted the maneuvers of Navy, and soon submarine fell into the continuous ring. From the helicopters on the long ropes were lowered the hydrophones, which recover the least sound in the depths of sea. On 23 September in Oskelesund arrived Prime minister of Sweden Karl Bildt, in order to personally lead operation. Tens of depth charges and special magnetic grenades flew to the water, but no one and nothing so it floated. Under the curtain was started in the course the homing torpedo, which so anywhere and did not fall. The disappointed Prime minister left the field of battle, without having forgotten sequential time to pass apropos of "these Russians", who insolently climb into the territorial waters of peaceful Sweden...
This tired to the main staff of Russia Navy, and soon before the looks of Swedish servicemen proved to be the secret combat plans and other materials, connected with the bearing of service in the Baltic Sea. But so that all doubts finally would fall, Russian servicemen advanced the proposition: if in the Swedish waters submarine again appears, Russia may direct there antisubmarine aircraft and bomb out this ship!
Russia proved to be not with what. But who then did swim in the scandinavian waters?
In interview for a Swedish TV the former Minister of the USA Caspar Wainberger stated that the waters of Sweden and Norway penetrated the submarines of NATO, which "... mastered the elements of underwater battle under difficult conditions of skerries and fjords of the West coast of Baltic".
Sometimes it was so. During November 1970 Norway Navy forced to float up the submarine discovered in Hardanger fjord. It was French submarine!
