I am in contact with the main author of the german wikipedia-articles about U 907, Jaeckel and Cabolet. She even spoke with a crew member of the boat and relatives of Cabolet, and promised to do further research, as there are some mysteries about the last journey of U 907. The stories Cabolet told his relatives (according to them, he didn't talk much about his U-Boot time, and almost never about that last war patrol) and that of the crew member don't match. They don't match with written sources too, she tried to find a version that fits as many told details as possible, but there are a lot of assuptions in the articles to fill holes or solve differences in the material she had. I trust the author, but I would not trust the articles now, as further research has to be done.

Sadly there is no proof previous published material is right: She found a different place of death for Jaeckel than uboat.net (or ubootwaffe.net) has, which is confirmed by the living crew member (Neubrandenburg, the crew member remembered only "somewhere in eastern germany", which doesn't fit for Gladbeck that is given in most sources).
