Hi,

according to book "Embleme, Wappen, Mailings deutscher Uboote 1939-1945", there was an emblem of U766 looking like following:


Below the plane is the date. It seems to be date of the event, when U766, attakced by Canadian Wellington from 407 Long Range Patrol Squadron, shot it down. In fact, this happened on 14 August.

On the photo from initial post, there can be visible some characters, I think, I can recognize digit "4".
