The destroyer I was speaking of was the Wanderer, described as a \"Modified W\" class destroyer launched in 1919. The Captain, Reginald Whinney, stated that he recorded bridge rolls of 60 degrees. He decided to transfer fuel oil and flood tanks on the windward side of the ship to reduce the roll. They finally reached the protection of the Faroe Islands.

It was quite an interesting episode, and I found it every bit as compelling as an encounter with a u-boat.
