I\'m only speculating, but the \"where\" part of the discovery would be the most likely to require secrecy. The mere fact that a u-boat wreck was discovered could have been unclassified; although amplifying information might be subject to special handling to avoid clever detectives piecing the puzzle together. The location you mentioned would be of special interest to United States national defense because it might be a useful loiter location for submarines capable of launching missiles (or possibly even long range super-cavitating torpedoes with nuclear warheads) against either Washington DC or the primary Atlantic naval base in Chesapeake Bay.
